Waste sorting helps minimize the negative environmental impacts of waste and promote the

waste recycling and reuse. Based on the theory of planned behavior and the norm activation model,

this study constructed a mechanism model of the influence of information publicity on residents'

household waste sorting behavior. Cross-sectional data were obtained from 1,065 urban residents

in China in 2019. Results of this study as following: Structural equation modeling showed that

information publicity was associated with personal attitudes, personal norms, waste sorting awareness,

facilities accessibility, subjective norms, and waste sorting intention; waste sorting awareness was

associated with personal attitudes, subjective norms, and waste sorting intention; personal attitudes
